Jumbo Nairobi!

Jumbo friends! (Jumbo ~ hello in Swahili)
Back to our trusty internet station in our creatively named 680Hotel...located at 680 something street. We just returned from a sweet little breakfast in a cafe with relatively bad coffee. While paying JD noticed a package of Tim Horton's coffee...hmm, coincidence?!? Yesterday we hopped in a cab to head to the National Museum to say we knew Sanya (hi Sanya!) but they are closed for 2 years. Nonetheless the snake viewing area was open and we got a tour of the snakes, crocodiles, an American visitor, the alligator, and some horny tortoises.

It was a perfectly temperatured day and we decided to walk home and stop at the oh-so posh Norfolk Hotel for tea. While enjoying our pricey tea, across the street at the Nairobi Cultural center, the Dance and Song Championships ended and there was much fanfare while trophy-bearers danced and sang down the street. A cabbie tried to convince us to hop in his vehicle saying it was cheaper than walking. Perplexed, we walked on and JD put it together as we stand out a wee bit and are invited to shop often.

Heading to the theatre to watch Harry Potter was next, what a show, mellowing us out for our last night at 680Hotel. We've decided to supposedly downgrade to a cheaper hotel, but this is an appealing change since our room is so pretigious that we have only hot water! No more filtered grapefruitseed extract flavoured warm water. Shania Twain playing from a nightclub sang me to sleep - go Timmins girl! Never a dull moment here in Nairobi - today we hit the grocery stores!
Much love.

High tea, flavored hot water, movies....JD you did not tell me this was a five star trip! I want to hear stories about crawling insect in unsuspected ( or not!) places and other cold showers...he he.
I think I'll have a (hot) bath now.
he he again.

Sophie

PS by the way, is there a way for me to post pictures on your blog? Thought I would show you the whiteness of Saint Louis. We had 4 inches of snow yesterday!
